Hello, I am thinking of buying a old Mustang from 1964 to 1966 with a 6cyl in it. I have owned the V-8's and I'm thinking of something new. Question,,,,,,, has anyone owned the 170 CID or the 200CID? I would like some info on the two. Thanks.

ATTENTION BENEVOLENT ONES!

I have a 6-cylinder 200 liter 3-speed 1966 mustang hardtop and my transmission finally died.  I want to replace it with a new transmission....I've heard they make 5-speeds or 4-speeds with linkage conversions that will fit on my car.  The problem is, I'm stupid and I don't know where to find this information.  To make it more urgent, I need to know really fast!!  I need this car working so I can get around (I am a working student).

Great Masses of people, thank you for helping a liller ole me out!

I own a six cylinder 200 ci. I bought it back when i was eighteen (22 now). I love the car. Its a  manual 3 sp and always runs great. Seems to be very dependable. The only problem I've ran into is the "paper trans". Its loud and kind of annoying sometimes. However, i know you can replace the paper trans with a heavy V8 with the proper linkage. I live in the Philadelphia area and theres a place called "Mid County Mustang". They will do the job. www.midcomustang.com. HOpe this helps

peace, Jack

I currently own a '66 convert. w/200 6 cylinder, with 4 speed trans, originally from my mom & dad, they bought it in '68. It is WONDERFUL on gas, it has well over 350,000 original miles, daily driver, have never had any engine problems, right now it like to foul 1 plug every now & then, but all we do is take it out, clean it up, put it right back in and down the road we go, we call it the "Granny mobile", she's not scared of the interstate, but we try to avoid that if we can.
