I have a few questions that I hope to get some assistance with...

1. I plan to flush my radiator and would like some advice as to whether leaving the flush in for an extended period is advisable. If yes how long??

2. Is it actually harmful to the engine if petrol is filled until the pump automatically stops?? I have been told that filling that much petrol can be detrimental due to some flowback mechanism from the carburator into the fuel tank.

3. The last question also brings me to another "fact" that I heard about overfilling the engine oil. I understand that the maximum level is there for a reason however most mechanics I have met seem to regard this as a minimum and a little over is suppose to be a good thing. How true is this
as I worry everytime they do this??

thanks in advance.

Hello, I hope this helps.....

1. I would not use any type of flush additive. First remember to flush all three parts of your cooling system separtley with water. Part 1 = Radiator 2= Engine block 3= Heater core. Flush all until water becomes clear.

2. Answer to question 2 is: I have never heard of any problems with over filling your auto.

3. Question 3: Follow your owners manuel for proper oil levels. Remember that engine oil acounts for a large part of engine cooloing and proper oil level is a good idea for engine health....

thanks for the reply strikermcsgt. you can also contact me direct at pttp53483@lycos.com

i'm afraid I don't quite understand wat you mean by "any type of flush additive". are these additives extremely corrosive?? if so then are there any in the market that I should avoid or look out for?? I currently have a rather bad rust situation in my radiator so any other suggestions are more than welcome. many thanks again. cheers!!

Trenat, I would not use the Radiator flush chemicals. Just drain your system and then fill and flush with water until clear. Afterwards, fill with 50% Prestone and 50% water depending on your climate. The instructions on the Prestone will explain this. Remember to flush all three parts of your system...

Trenat, I would not use Flush chemicals only due to my experiences with them. I have found that they are extremely harsh on older or high milage cooling systems. Therefore, leading to premature radiator, water pump, or heater core failure. If you give it a good flush and refill with prestone, the prestone will inhibit further rusting. Good Luck with it.....

Good post! I tend to agree with strikermcsgt. I took good care of my 95 OLDS, I flushed radiator almost every year, of course, using chemicals, but I still changed new radiator three months ago.

thanks all for sharing your experiences. will keep all of that in mind.

however I guess there's a lot more to just flush chemicals with regards to our radiator lifespans. I've even been told that flushing out the rust may not be a good idea since it will open up any leaks that would have otherwise been sealed. I suppose that boils down to choosing the lesser of 2 evils eh?? haha. cheers!! ;o)

Could anyone give an answer to this. What's the difference between component speakers and coaxles? ? Are sound system speakers meant to all be the same wattage or should they go up in power and decibels from tweeters to subwoofers?

Could someone please tell me what exactly is involved in a rear-end differential maintenance, because the dealer just charged me $170  to perform this task! I'm thinking that they saw a sucker coming! I appreciate your replys.
